About the Core Members of the 2BGreen Team.

Alastair Armstrong is a qualified Electrical Engineer with more than 20 years experience in the engineering, solar and project management industries. He heads InSynch Sustainable technologies who specialise in Green Building and Renewable Energy Consulting. Alastair also heads EarthWorx Construction who focus on natural construction implementation such as rammed earth and straw bale. Alastair has lectured and trained many built industry professionals in sustainable construction methods and Green Technology.

Cheryl Villet has a background which spans 10 years in the Financial Services Industry (product development and marketing) and another 10 years in the Design, Financial Services publishing and direct mail industry. Cheryl is directly responsible for all aspects of Mortgage Origination and finance sourcing, namely Client Service, back office administration, including its processes and systems, plus procurement of new business.

Eva Bali graduated in 1989 at the RWTH Aachen in Germany with a Masters Degree in Architecture. The “Green” movement was at its peak in Germany during the 80th and green thinking was an integral part of the political landscape, the curriculums in education as well as social and individual practice on a daily basis. Eva has 10 years working experience in Germany and England and came to South Africa in 1998. She partnered with TWS in 2002. Eva is also is a co-founder of BiLT Projects.

Gwen Theron (Professor) holds a MA degree in Landscape Architecture from A&M University in Texas, USA, and a PhD in Landscape Architecture (Cultural Landscapes) from University of Pretoria. She is a Pr LArch and has worked on various projects both abroad (US) and SA. She is currently Director and Shareholder at Golder Associates. She has been President of both the Institute of Landscape Architects of South Africa (ILASA) and the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Professions (SACLAP). She is the Deputy Chairperson of the Council for the Built Environment (CBE).

Johan Le Roux is a principle in both TWS Architects and BiLT Projects. He graduated from WITS University with a B.Arch degree in 1989.  In 1996, he founded The Workshop Studio Architects (TWS). Some 14 years and almost 200 projects later Johan has expanded his horizons into construction and property development with a focus on earth conscious and sustainable design solutions.

John Nzira is a specialist in Permaculture and urban farming and is the owner of Ukuvuna Urban Farming. He has almost two decades of experience working with government and NGO's in community development, teaching and practicing Permaculture. He trained in Zimbabwe at Fambidzanai Permaculture Institute and in the late 80's had further training with Bill Mollison, the founder of Permaculture. He introduced Permaculture to the Mpumalanga Province through his work with the Mpumalanga Parks Board.

Julie Jarrett is the co-founder of Earth Patrol. Julie travelled extensively throughout the Far East, Africa and Central America in search of working models of sustainable community. She returned back to Johannesburg in 1999. Having been involved in property development and project management in the domestic arena, she shifted towards sustainable development in 2007.

Mark Tiepelt is a qualified civil engineer with 20 years experience in the construction industry. He has a passion for alternative and sustainable building methodology as well as the design, supply and installation of solar energy solutions. Mark owns Biogas SA which currently holds the SA agency for the internationally acclaimed Puxin Biogas Digester from China.

Mike Robertson B.Sc. (Wits) 1984, H.Dip.Ed. Mike specializes in the holistic design and implementation of natural swimming pools, ponds and wetlands. Convert existing conventional pools into natural ecosystems. Grey water recycling, water storage and irrigation Bio-filtration systems, heating, cost effective pumps and pool lights.

Roxy Wood. With a degree in Interior Design, Roxy has grown from strength to strength, working for many of the leading design practices over the years. She has been involved in many residential, retail and commercial projects. Roxy's passion for eco-design helped her establish Green Circle Design, which has quickly gained a reputation as one of the leading eco-interior practises in the country. Much sought after for her eco-chic designs and services, Roxy brings a fresh, sleek and contemporary vision to all things green.

Russell Thomas. Trained at the Witwatersrand Technikon and the Design Centre, Russell has been in the property development, architectural and interior design industry for the last ten years. He has been involved in many facets of the industry from residential design and development, retail, commercial and industrial design including décor, product and furniture design. Russell has had a strong focus on sustainable design practice and has been involved in many pioneering projects over the years, such as the World Summit on sustainability, the loft district in Milpark and the world famous Londolozi Game Lodge to name a few.

Sonia Armstrong is the co-founder of InSynch Sustainable Technologies. She is a qualified Graphic Designer and Business Marketing specialist with more than 20 years in the industry. Sonia has a long history of involvement in environmentally linked NGO's and social lobbying organisations. Passionate about the environment and natural living she guides her family in living and breathing a true sustainable life-style.

Stephen Scrimgeour is a principle in Earth Patrol and comes from a Spatial and Architectural design background.  As the head designer for a South African sustainable consultancy team, he has worked on green development projects for the commercial, residential and mining sectors as a sustainable consultant to various professional teams and been part of green projects throughout Southern Africa.
