TWS Architects

Strategically aligned with 2BG, TWS have set out to explore and stretch the boundaries of design and building for the sustainable environment. We have set ourselves on a path of discovery and ever expanding thinking and knowledge of Earth conscious design and building with an understanding that moving toward a more sustainable built environment will be a collective effort between the patron, the designer, the builder and the supplier.
Our designs are at one with nature, with the immediate environment and at once live in nature and make nature visible. We believe that excellent design grows from place, from the elements which shape the site/the context.
About us
Although Johan started the company alone some years back he soon realised that the potential of any business is in its resources and hence the potential for growth was born. Johan’s main role is to impart vision, lead by example and ensure that TWS’s clients receive the value of service that they deserve, every step of the way. Johan’s talent lies more in conceptual and design development and he therefore relies heavily on the team to bring their talents to bear on further stages of our holistic service.
Eva Bali, who graduated from the University of Aachen in Germany, joined the practice in 2001; she brings a wealth of talent, depth of experience and a feminine touch to the practice. Eva performs a role of design development and implementation of project planning.
Mark Tieplet, a graduate of Stellenbosch University in 1985 where he attained his degree in Civil Engineering, partnered up with Johan and Eva in 2006, and adds to the practice and group an enthusiasm for the built form and ably performs the role of project administration during the construction phase of our projects.

Bon Milieu is the title and notion of a sanctuary created for true personal privacy and value of ecological beauty. It is situated in the verdant valleys of the Waterval Onder region, a mountainous plot rich in flora and fauna, measuring approximately 60 hectares of land. It is divided into 24 stands of 3600sqm. The current prototypical concept-design captures the entirety of what is endeavoured as a luxury home in Bon Milieu.
